Profile
I am a highly organised, outcome-driven and motivated professional with over 10 years of solid experience in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). I am currently employed by Murray & Roberts at the Medupi Power Station as a Senior HSE Practitioner.
In my present role, I am directly responsible for health and safety on this construction site. I have worked on civil, mining, petrochemical and engineering sites and my duties include setting up of safe work procedures and risk assessments. I am also responsible for developing and implementing OHS and risk management initiatives and have reached over 4 million safe man working hours. It is my responsibility to ensure that all OHS systems are up-to-date and adhered to by all employees. I also conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, safety audits and accident and injury investigations.
My experience in training has really developed my communication skills, enabling me to communicate with people at all levels of the field. I am fully qualified, with various certificates in OHS. I make a point of keeping up-to-date with changes to OHS legislation.
Regarding my educational information, I have numerous HSE courses and I am currently completing my NEBOSH. I am also in my last year of my HSE management Diploma with only one module remaining. Thereafter, I will pursue my Degree in HSE management.
I have also recently applied to register with SACPCMP as a Construction Health & Safety Officer as per new Construction Regulations 2014 and I am currently waiting to write my exam. I also have IWH (Institute for working at heights) membership.
I believe that I would be a perfect fit for the advertised position and that I could make a valuable contribution. I am driven to help organisations make their workplaces as safe and healthy as possible, and I thrive in a stimulating and dynamic environment.
