I am a civil/structural engineer with about 33 years' of work experience in the field of designs of steel plant and power plant related structures as well as well as multi-storied buildings, factory buildings and misc other structures etc in India.
Capable of both self design / review engineering work. Presently, working in TBWES (Thermax Babcock& Wilcox) Pune ,India as advisor& Head of Civil group. Earlier, in NTPC Ltd as Additional General Manager where. I worked for 26 years in the civil designs dept ,NTPC Delhi/Noida and for 2 years as AGM and head of department for 2 departments namely Field engg and Field Quality Assurance at Bongaigaon TPP NTPC Ltd, Assam, totalling about 28 years in NTPC.
Earlier, in M/S Kumbhani Consultants and M/S M.N.Dastur and Co Kolkata mainly on the planning, analysis and designs of Vizag Steel Plant and other projects.
In NTPC, in-house engineering as well as reviewed vendors drawings/designs mainly for main plant civil Works, CW System, cooling towers, offsite civil works, boiler, switchyard, Coal Handling plant turnkey packages, ash handling, ash dyke, design of pipe and cable galleries etc for various projects.
I have experience of both Sub structure and superstructure design.
Experience of designing all types of foundations- pile, raft, combined, open , strap ,strip and eccentric footings etc.
Geotechnical investigations, soil testing, bearing capacity and settlement calculations, pile testing and selection, other aspects related to soil mechanics.
Renovation and modernization of old dilapidated power plants across the country under consultancy work in NTPC.Included RLA studies,site survey and inspections,,preparation of RLA specifications after identifying and finalizing the scope of work,there after preparation of R&M specs as well as drawings finalizing tender documents,NIT and award.
I am also conversant with the designs of offshore structures and I have some experience of designing pump houses over river/Sea intake wells, offshore platforms, breakwater systems, jetties, undersea foundations for marine structures etc.
Have knowledge of R.C.C chimney analysis and design for various critical loads and combinations of DL,IL, Wind(along and across) and seismic(Response spectrum as well as time history)
Design of WTP/STP/ETPs / design of gravity flow/pressure pipelines
I passed my engineering from NIT SURAT in the year 1983 in Ist Class with distinction.
Designed numerous structures for steel plants and power plants, RCC residential multi storied buildings, industrial buildings , designs of all types of foundations and super structures. I can design foundations for various types of machines.
I am capable of doing all types of RCC and Structural steel designs and extensively used STAAD PRO, ANSYS,TEKLA , AutoCad etc. I am very much at ease using MS office (MS Word, MS EXCEL, POWER POINT etc. ) and I have sufficient knowledge of project management, including MS Office and Prima Vera. I have some knowledge of E Tabs and SAP 2000.
Though my primary field has been designs, I can easily take up construction related works, with the added advantage of design background.

Special Emphasis:Expertise and experience in RCC and Structural steel designs complete from conceptualization till commissioning stage mainly for power and Steel plants, project management & engineering management ,all types of foundations, underground and basement structures, tunnels, dams, diaphragm walls, embankments and dykes, overhead structures like flyovers, bridges etc with either precast pre stressed girders or pre cast post tensioned segmental elements as well as design of their supports along with foundations wells and caissons, sheet piling, coffer dams offshore structures and breakwaters etc.
Have extremely good knowledge about the various structural systems of ultra mega high rise buildings like bundled tube, framed tube, trussed tube, tube in tube, The Core+Outrigger+belt truss system, Solid wall/trussed/damped outriggers, diagrid and other systems to be adopted along with the structural responses of the various systems under static and dynamic load conditions and the various types of damping systems(TMD) to be put in place to reduce sway without unduly increasing the building stiffness or using excessive bracing. A complete finite element/model analysis preceding the actual design, which is based on the modal response.
