Vice President and Deputy General Counsel

Rich Walsh serves as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, with responsibility for the company’s litigation, commercial, customs, compliance and regulatory law departments.

Walsh has served in various leadership roles within Valero's legal department. Much of his current work involves interfacing with key regulatory agencies such as the Coast Guard Homeland Security, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, U.S. Customs Service and Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Oklahoma. Walsh also has studied international and English law at the University of Oxford in England, and has extensive international legal experience working in South America, Asia and Europe.
