Initially after obtaining B.Sc. degree from the University of Calcutta in 1987 joined FISH TECH CONSULTANTS, Calcutta as Research Assistant and carried out research work for induced Breeding of Air-breathing Catfish (Clarias batrachus) in captivity. This Research & Development Project was funded by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Govt. of India. Later on, various responsibilities given to me by the Organisation apart from the above R&D Project, such as setting up new and modify old small-scale aquafarms for it’s clients. During this period had undergone an intensive training programme in Cochin, Kerala State on SHRIMP CULTURE AND HATCHERY MANAGEMENT conducted by The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India, at Cochin, Kerala in 1989.
In later part of my professional career worked in several reputable and esteemed organisations like:
AQUA TECH CONSULTANTS, Calcutta (an Organisation engaged in Consultancy & Advisory Services on different aspects of Aquaculture & Fisheries Development) for its various clients in West Bengal & Orissa during 1990 – 94;
PENNAR AQUA EXPORTS LTD., Nellore, Andhra Pradesh (with registered office in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh) as Manager, Hatchery Division of a Multi-National Company during 1995;
SCANET AQUA EXPORTS LTD., Chennai 1995 - 96;
BKP AQUA FARMS, Simri-Baktiarpur, Saharsa, Bihar as Technical Manager (1996 – 98) and finally in
Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama as Technical Manager (under The World Bank assisted Shrimp & Fish Culture Project in West Bengal) during 1998 - 99.
Was Consultant/Advisor to various entrepreneurs namely M/s. CENTURY MARINE VENTURE LTD., Calcutta; M/s. MRIDUL GHOSH ASSOCIATES, Baruipur (West Bengal); M/s. BIDHAN NAGAR AGRO & FISHERIES PROJECTS PVT. LTD., Calcutta; M/s. ARS ENTERPRISE, Calcutta since, 1999.
Is a countrywide Senior Project Consultant – Aquaculture, SOUTH ASIAN FOUNDATION FOR HUMAN INITIATIVES (SAFHI), Calcutta since September, 2002 – Till date.
Worked in various agro-climatic conditions prevailing in different parts of coastal as well as inland areas of West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Assam in India. Visited ten European countries and two in the Indian sub-continent also in connection to my discipline.
Father, was associated as Advisor/Consultant to various National & International Organisations like Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), The World Bank, FAO/UN, DANIDA etc. for the development of Aquaculture and Fisheries sectors. So, I had the opportunity to visit/study a number of coastal & inland aquafarms implemented under the supervision and guidance of my father in India & abroad (kindly refer my enclosed C.V. under the heading “LIST OF AQUACULTURE PROJECTS VISITED / STUDIED”). I also had the privilege to work under his guidance and leadership in AQUA TECH. CONSULTANTS Team during which I had carried out various feasibility surveys, techno-economic analysis of projects & proposals, design & lay-out plans, culture operations etc. about twenty-four in numbers. Father being associated in Aquaculture & Fisheries development, an environment of learning/understanding /observing was already there from my childhood.
Presently, engaged in providing consultancy and advisory services on various aspects of aquaculture and fisheries development to different entrepreneurs and small farmers in both brackishwater and freshwater sectors in SAFHI projects countrywide. Prior to this attended an In-Service Training conducted by Directorate General for Fisheries, Unit: Aquaculture, EUROPEAN COMMISSION in Brussels, BELGIUM during 2002. Associated in several aspects of Aquaculture & Fisheries Development since 1987.
Now looking for better prospects to utilise my experience in the development of fisheries & aquaculture and to contribute scientifically towards the upliftment of aquaculture as a successful Aquaculturist in the country or abroad.
