Under the direction of the Workshop manager , serves as the Engineer to maintenance personnel performing the full range of overhaul, repair, trouble shut and service of all Light vehicles/Heavy equipment, tactical and non tactical, at the Direct Support (DS) and General Support (GS) level of maintenance. Responsible for troubleshooting and repair work on engines, transfers, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, fuel and pneumatic systems, steering mechanisms and turbo chargers. Responsible for ensuring that safety and environmental policies and guidelines are followed without exception. Assigns vehicle/equipment job orders for repair/overhaul and trouble shut to all types of mechanics. Conducts initial inspections upon delivery of equipment; in-progress inspection as required during the repair phase of the vehicle or component; and a final inspection upon completion of maintenance repaired to ensure quality product outputs are met. Prepare records of inspection/tests and makes them available to the QA/QC Department. Verify that procedures being used are adequate for the effective control of quality; rejects defective workmanship and materials; verify and certify the test results on supporting documents. Provides guidance and technical assistance to shop maintenance personnel; inspection principles on workmanship, procedures to be employed, and quality of work expected maintenance of quality programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
