Hemant has 25 years of experience with Multinational Companies managing Asia Pacific region across FMCG/Health Care/Medical Devices/IT Sectors. Out of 25 years, He worked for Johnson & Johnson (J&J) - South Asia Region for 16 years, Last position he held in J&J was of CFO and Supply Chain Director of Southeast Asia Region for Medical Device Business. Besides Medical Devices Business, he also worked for Consumer Business unit of J&J. During last decade, he took additional responsibility of Supply Chain function as well as led several high impact strategic initiative across Asia Pacific region.
Early 1989. Hemant started his career with Tech Mahindra (Previously known as Mahindra British Telecom) and grew with the business over 7 years (1989-1995). He was instrumental in setting up of Branch office in UK, Subsidiary in USA and Singapore as well setting Private Software Technology Park at Pune (one of the first in the IT Industry). He acquired knowledge of UK/US GAAP and managed Financial Planning, reporting and consolidations functions at HQ. (1989-1995)
Hemant joined Johnson & Johnson (J&J) India early 1997 and he started his J&J journey with its Consumer Business as Finance Controller managing Financial Planning, Accounting, Consolidations, Reporting, Business partnering, Pricing, Managing Distributors as well Operations accounting. (6 years).
During 2003, He moved from J&J's Consumer Business to Medical Device Business Managing PAN India Revenue Cycle Leader and Finance Business Partner Function of ASP Business,
As part of his development plan he was promoted as CFO and Posted to J&J's Indonesia Business in addition he was also appointed as Regional CFO Lifescan and Cordis Business. (2004-2011).
Subsequently, He was Promoted as CFO and Supply Chain Director of Southeast Asia Region managing 350 MM USD Business. (2012-2013).
Over last decade in Southeast Asia region, Hemant led several strategic initiatives. Hemant led Project of launching SAP across SE Asia region, as well as leading outsourcing of Accounting Process to Accenture's Outsourcing centre in Manila. These two projects also resulted in elimination of redundant processes as well simplification and standardisation of Finance Process across Southeast Asia resulting in reduction of Finance Headcount and improving efficiency. He was instrumental in launching Health Care Compliance in Indonesia which ultimately became benchmark across Southeast Asia region. He also led Integration of Synthes Business with J&J Depuy Business Encompassing Finance, Supply Chain as well as IT Process integration. He was a champion of Finance & Supply Chain Talent pool across Southeast Asia for all Sectors of J&J. He also led strategic initiative of revamping of Distribution Business Model as well as Piloting two Tier 2 market penetration model which had Impact across Asia Pacific region.
Besides being known as Trusted Business Partner, having won Best Business Partner CFO award, Best Health Care Compliance officer award as well as Best Country CFO award he also excelled in Supply Chain Function in a very short time. He made significant contributions in capacity as Supply Chain Director of South East Asia Region.He reduced Distribution costs – Negotiated Margin based on Activity based Costing of Distribution cost. He was instrumental in changing Distribution fees on volumes/Activities Vs % Sales base method adopted since decade. Through process of E bidding he reduced channel margin with improved SLA commitment from Distributors. He reduced Inventory levels, streamlining Demand planning as well S&OP process improving service levels. He developed KPIs and SLAs for distributors which was implemented across Southeast Asia. He was instrumental in bringing value addition through enhancing cooperation with Distribution enabling additional dedicated field force as well additional geographical reach across all markets. He also led initiative to Integrate Secondary Sales and inventory data from all Distributors with J&J's data warehouse system. He Revamped & Standardized SC process across region resulting in to enhanced customer focus and improved efficiencies. He Improved quality of Inventory on hand by standardizing planning process & reduced slow moving inventory. Improved Value LIFR to 98% and reduced slow moving products by 1 MM USD Built process across ASEAN to manage Consignment (more than 2000 customers rationalized to 1200).
During 2013, Hemant joined Indonesia's largest Business House Sinarmas Group as CFO Asia Pacific Region. He managed Finance, Supply Chain, M&A as well as new market development activities. The Business is spread across 16 countries, 10 manufacturing locations. Hemant also has direct responsibility of managing India & Middle east market’s P&L responsibility managing Business.
