I have been a very active clinician , academician, organizer, educator, researcher, innovator in many aspects of my field of specialty viz. Pulmonology.
I have been teaching for close to two decades.Contributed to the development of India's most popular Dry Powder Inhaler device for management of Airway Diseases. Promoted Allergology, Interventional Pulmonology, Sleep Medicine in my city and the country.Help establish the first Critical Care Society in India in Pune in 1989 which subsequently merged with Indian Society of Critical care Medicine in 1993 and continued to contribute to the growth of Critical care Medicine in India.I initiated the country's longest running mechanical ventilation workshop in Pune - now in its thirteenth year.I was instrumental in conceiving the Resuscitation Council of India in 1999- 2000 and brought multiple academic societies on a common platform which later culminated into formulating Indian guidelines on BLS & ACLS. I have been very active in Public Health initiatives in Tuberculosis , Occupational health, Asthma Education, COPD care and reahbilitation, Sleep Medicine and Home Ventilation, Critical care education BASIC,FCCM, and other such activities.
My Objectives:
I have been a successful clinician and educator acutely conscious that there is a crying need to do a lot more in this field if we have to take technology and science to people who matter; to promote interventions which will be game changers and reduce suffering, morbidity, mortality and improve Health Related Quality of Life in India and the world.
Besides medicine I have been active in the fields of Theater and Mountaineering.Both activities I miss a lot because of my active career.As a compensation I travel extensively - both on professional grounds and also as an avid traveler. People places and history of human culture and the basic similarities across the world fascinate me.
