I am a personal coach back here in the United States and have trained more than 100 students for their career path and growth. Also i share my knowledge on Tech Skills to help people get their right working job at the right time.
When it comes to train people the most important thing is to make them aware of learning resources. The Internet is filled with those but people don't try to take anything in their hands. There are so much stuff online to learn with courses, certifications, and tutorials, They fear that they will be charged heavily for that but it isn't the fact here. You can learn for free without ever paying anything to anyone.
When I train people I try to show them the path for self-learning and self-growth. They should never be dependent on someone else for their learning process. Mentors are good to have but not for the whole career path. You can have them as a guide which takes you out when you get stuck somewhere. They have the wisdom which they gained over all these years which could help you in saving so much of your time.
And the world demands more people with technical skills which could help them in handling the fundamentals. Otherwise, if technology goes in the wrong hand then it could be a failure to mankind. And I think programming, development, machine learning, etc are the things that could help humans in growing.
Let me help you by sharing some free online resources to get things working. These are the ones that my students have tried and learned so many tech skills in the past.
Free Online Learning
Udemy
Coursera
I hope you take enough help from these websites and learn as much as you can. Debating over the fact that if free resources are good or not will not help you in doing anything. So please look at other factors in the list which gives you the allowance to test any course without having to pay.
And for corporate jobs, you need to have enough tech skills to work effectively. Even if you don't want to work in a tech company and want to
work from home as a freelancer you need to work on either of the tech skills as Web Development, Programming, Graphic Designing, Blogging, Video editing, etc.
So do take out your time and while you are focusing on your degrees to get the best career opportunities. Schedule things in advance so as to learn them in mid-semester breaks when you don't have anything productive to do.
Also, you could take help from your college counselors to guide you in certain fields as per your requirements. Take courses and make notes, get on an internship to learn by spending money from someone else.
Internships are one of the best way to learn new things in corporate environment. And if you want then you can then start your own work thereafter.
