Antonie Van Niekerk

I have over 14 years work experience, starting my career as an electrical technician in Petro Chemical Industries. Through hard work, determination and night school studies, I completed my Bachelor of Technology Degree in Electrical Engineering and progressed to the position of Lead/Senior Instrumentation and Control System Projects Engineer. I am currently in the employment of KENTZ SA (since August 2011), as the Lead/Snr. I & C Engineer on petro chemical projects and I am a certified functional safety professional (CFSP) with exida. Some of my responsibilities include:

• Lead I & C Engineering teams on basic (FEED) and detail engineering projects (Single & Multi Discipline) and construction support.
• Reviewing & compiling of Control Narratives, Logic Narratives, Cause & Effect matrix, Range Alarm & Trip schedules, Instrument Index and Data Sheets, etc.
• Reviewing & Redlining of MFD’s/P&ID’s and 3d Models.
• All C & I related documentation, designed on Smart Plant Instrumentation (Intools).
• As-built documentation and drawings.
• HAZOP studies and SIL reviews.

Prior to KENTZ, I was employed in the Instrumentation & Control Engineering department (I & CE) at Sasol Synfuels Secunda (3 Years). My responsibilities was I & C design work, project management and technical support for the plant maintenance department. I was responsible for single discipline projects, taking projects from pre-feasibility (FEED) to detail engineering, implementation and beneficial operations. I was also a member of the Natural work Team (NWT) division as the instrumentation and control systems technical lead on multi-discipline projects.

• Basic Engineering Packages.
• Capital, renewal fund applications for projects.
• Detail Engineering Packages.
• Loop drawings and MFD/P&ID updates and red lining.
• Management of service-providers during implementation phase.

• Improvement Project proposals and budgeting.

Before starting at Sasol in August 2008, I managed my own electrical contracting business for 2.5 years and before that I worked as an electrical technician for 3.5 years.
