• Has been employed by reputable multinationals such as Barclays Bank*, First Bank of Nigeria*, British American Investment* (BAI), CIEL Group* and Arthur Anderson (AA) Consulting. * represents listed companies.
• 25 years of working experience; more than 12 years as CFO / Finance Director.
• Board experience as Chairman of Barclays Mauritius Staff Pension Fund,
Executive Director for FBN-Drc and Non-Executive Director for a Listed REIT. Member of Mauritius Institute of Directors.
Permanent Member of Bank of Mauritius working group on regulatory affairs.
• International exposure in Africa (DRC, South Africa and Nigeria) and in UK. Was engaged in short-term missions for the World Bank in several Sub Saharans’ countries for clients in the financial sector.
• Currently working within the operating models / best practice of the 7th largest bank worldwide and engaged in regulatory reporting and tax management in 4 different jurisdictions i.e. Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa (BAGL) and in UK (Barclays PLC).
Extensive knowledge of legal and taxation frameworks in the 12 African countries where Barclays Africa is present. Barclays Mauritius is the booking center for the Assets hub strategy of BAGL.
• Extensive experience over and above core skills (financial, tax and treasury) in areas such as cost containment, strategic planning, process re-engineering, funding and M&A.
• Project orientated:
- Has been recruited by Barclays in the wake of the creation of Barclays Africa and incorporation of Barclays Mauritius in May 2013 (awarded Certificate of Recognition).
- Joined BAI Group for the setting up of its new bank (Bramer Bank).
- Has been a key player in other high profile projects such as
(i) Acquisition of BIC by FBN Group in 2011 (assisted by Renaissance Capital),
(ii) Strategy development and roll out (assisted by McKinsey & PwC Africa) for FBN Group and SBUs,
(iii) Engaged in the setting up and fund raising (IPO) for a listed REIT in Mauritius with reverse listing in JSE.
