• Participate in finalizing deliverables lists and deliverables, ensuring compliance with specifications and functional integrity.
• Ensure interfaces and deliverables are clearly identified.
• Preparation of Design basis / Project technical specification (for static Equipments and packages) for ongoing Project.
• Execute assigned work in accordance with the applicable Project Procedures and Standards, complete within planned schedule and budget, in accordance with standards and project-specific procedures to a high professional standard.
• Review and provide necessary input for interdisciplinary IDC prints.
• Performing Independent Mechanical Design Calculation in compliance with project Specifications/various national and international Codes & Standards, ASME SEC VIII DIV I & II, TEMA, PD5500, API 650/660/661, ASME B 31.8, SHELL DEP v 32, NACE MR0175 / MR 0103 as applicable.)
• Prepare Mechanical Datasheet (MDS) for various Static Equipments and Packages {e.g. Reactors, Pressure Vessels, Columns, Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers , Double pipe exchanger, API Storage Tanks & Spheres, Flare package, Scrapper launcher and receivers, Air cooled heat Exchangers ( Fin Fan Cooler, Fuel gas conditioning skid, Air compressor and Nitrogen generation package etc.}
• Interface with other departments to obtain input for Discipline designs and drawings.
• Ensure constructability, operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design.
• Provide technical direction and review of Designers producing products related to Mechanical
• Preparation of Material requisition for Equipments, components and packages etc.
• Review of Vendor's offers against the material requisition and Raise technical queries to obtain missing information.
• Conducting technical meetings with vendors as & when required for understanding vendor’s offer, to clarify work scope, explaining project specific requirements to maintain preferred procedures, specifications, standards, practices and operational requirements.
• Carry out Comparative technical bid evaluations of vendors/subcontractors offer to ensure that quality and requirements are met. Prepare purchase requisition.
• Follow procedures for design and document control, e.g. creation of design deliverables, use and retention of check prints/IDC prints.
• Attend project kickoff and review meetings, vendor meetings, engineering meetings as required.
• Adhere to company and project specific quality management systems and procedures relevant to the role.
• Review of G.A Drawing & Detail fabrication drawings by performing independent design calculations of equipments and components as applicable.
• To review detail drawings, plate cutting layouts, plate MTO and nesting programs according to calculations performed for API Storage Tanks, Spheres.
• Verify the exceeding piping loads, Inter department Queries, Analyze Vendors Extra Claim Etc.
• Identify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications, including providing any necessary supporting documentation and estimates. Provide similar support for Variation Orders.
• Resolving bottlenecks during vendor documents review.
• Responsible for technical matters, procedures, design deliverables, schedule compliance and man-hour control by providing input to project execution plans and schedules for the project.
• Provide technical guidance and direction as may be requested from time to time
• Review vendor query/concession/deviation requests: provide technical recommendations and approval
• Prepare reports on job progress/status on the assigned project.
• Identifying areas of concern during the course of any project to Project management & proposing necessary corrective action.
• Ensure past project lessons learnt are considered in project execution.
• Providing clarification to client comments, obtaining approval from client on NCR’s raised by Vendor during detail engineering / fabrication stage.
• Co-ordination of technical matters within the discipline and with other disciplines as required.
• Co-coordinating with inter-discipline, client, vendor and construction engineers.
• Providing technical support in resolving site queries.
• Review of FEA ( Finite Element Analysis ) calculation report by FEM method using tool Ansys APDL 14.5
• Providing clarification, guidance and technical support to construction sites and commissioning engineers, as required
• Provide discipline input to procurement and construction activities.
• Develop a working relationship with clients, engineering subcontractors and supplier/vendor personnel.
• Maintain close co-ordination with other engineering disciplines, Planning, Fabrication, and Project Management Team, as required.
