EXPERIENCE:
• ((( December 2014 – Present: Drake & Scull International )))
Position: Site Mechanical Engineer – Jewel of Creek Project, Dubai.
Responsibilities:
 Materials quantity takeoff for all mechanical services including: plumbing, chilled water and HVAC.
 Revising submittals and method statements to assure correct installation.
 Revising drawings and comparing them to avoid any clash or any wrong sizing.
 Following up with civil team to get info regarding the stages of the work, and technical info like false ceiling details, room ID’s, equipment and devices details.
 Studying installations in congested areas to figure out probable solutions.
 Following up with site team, site store and suppliers to know the status of the materials like deliveries, shortages, and alternatives in case of delay.
 Preparing weekly progress reports.
Achievements:
 Replacing the double risers by single (bigger) risers for the exhaust ducts and water supply pipes, which reduced the cost of the materials and lowered the water pump and suction fan size (each two adjacent hotel rooms now share the aforementioned services instead of one riser devoted for each room).
 Changing wash basin traps from bottle type to flexible conduit type to ease fixing (the view didn’t turn bad since the basins have counters, so the traps are concealed).
 Avoiding coring for showers and bath tubs by using special type of reducing pushes. That facilitated extension of the drainage flexibly, in return for a variation whose cost was much smaller than coring cost (from main contractor perspective).
 Resizing the drainage risers in the last 5 floors from 6’’ to 4’’ (that was enough by plumbing code). That saved much cost and gave more space in shafts.
 Suggestion of changing ducts insulation from stable glass fiber to armaflex rubber to reduce fixing time to less than half (still not approved).
 Resizing of approximately all the chilled water risers and branches, taking in consideration allowable water velocity and shafts status.
• ((( August 2013 – November 2014: NAFFCO – TechnoPro )))
Position: Technical Support Engineer – Piping Division, Jebel Ali.
Responsibilities:
 Following up the sites of supplying and installing mild steel and HDPE pipes, from materials takeoff to pressure testing.
 Coordinating and following all the operations related to pre-insulated pipes including following with suppliers of polyurethane filling suppliers, heat shrinkable joints suppliers, chemicals suppliers, sand blasting and coating suppliers, fittings extension and welding workshops, and then flowing the site installation starting from takeoff and ending with pressure testing and leak detection system testing (Wideco brand).
Achievements:
 Saving the cost of carbon steel fittings extension by applying it in TechnoPro factory. And saving the cost of sand blasting and primer coating by applying manual smoothing and painting the primer with airless spray gun.
 Saving the cost of installation suppliers by training a team from the factory to apply chemical in the joints and connection of heat shrinkable joints (this saved about 12% of our quotations and so increased competition possibility, especially that pre-insulated pipes were newborn product in that time in TechnoPro).
