Myself Pavan Kumar Adapa currently working as a Network Administrator in HCL Technologies,
payroll of Collabera Technologies,I am B.Tech graduate from JRN University, and am CCNA Certified, CCNP Trained,
having 9 plus years of experience in IT field, I started my career with Andhra University,
its a government organisation, intially they assigned me as a Desktop Support, later they
promote me as a Network Engineer, because of my interest in networks.

My role and responsibilites is to manage and the administrate the LAN/WAN networks, my day to day operations
is LAN troubleshooting, VLAN provision, weekly backup and IOS upgradation. i worked on 2960 and 6503 cisco switches,
We have a linux based server, in that server we are running one application software called smart guard
bandwidth control management software. with help of this software, we can manage and monitor the network,
i.e giving the permissions to user login into the internet, we can monitor the bandwidth usage, using PRTG/MRTG graphs.
We have sonic wall its a hardware firewall, to protect our campus network from hackers and it restricts the
unauthorised websites and also block the virus in the network. we have several departments
in the campus each department have 100 to 200 users with LAN connectivity and & internet facility, Each department
is connected with multimode fibre its 12core cable. Fibre is coming all the departments is connected one 16 fibre port
cisco multilayer switch, it is located in Data center in the campus.

Coming to my provision part, When a new site needs to be added to the Campus Infrastructure, we will initiate
a discussion with network operations team to finalize the bandwidth and hardware requirements for the new site
based on the user count. Once team get the details from network operations team they will take it to the
administration for approval and procure the new hardware.

We have in government sector so as per the policy need to initiate the quote for procurement via
advertise in offical website and newspaper. will get the response from vendors, have to take comparative statement
in that respective quotes those who got L1 quote and same has forwared to administration for approvals
once get the approval from the admin we are proceed to order the material respective vendor.

Once the hardware is reached at new site respective team will perform the configuration and proceed for the closure.


Each department have one 6U mount wallrack, in that we are fixed cat6 patch panel, fibre patch panel and 24 port cisco switch,
If any fail over switch is located in the campus, have to replace the new switch.

All the users in the department is connected to patch panel, from patch panel out to cisco switch, and fibre is
coming from Data center is terminated at fibre patch panel in respective departments, from fibre patch panel to
cisco switch fibre port.

our isp provider is vonline and our bandwidth 100 Mbps. 1:1 dedicated leased line. we have otdr (optical time-domain
reflectometer) machine. It is used to find the breakage location of fibre and measure the distance from source to
destination of fibre, after find the breakage location, splicing has to be donce between the fibres.
