My work entails understanding the client’s need from a consulting perspective by discerning RFX (Request For Proposal/Information/Quotation). I design sales pitch showcasing an amalgamation of company’s technology and product portfolio so as to increase the top line for the company by meeting the margins. A detailed study involving research on current and prospective clients by analyzing their company’s reports to help them reduce cost is a prime requirement of my job. My work includes building and optimizing pricing models like Fixed price, Time and Material, Outcome based, Fixed Capacity, etc. depending on the need of resources required by the project and client. I am responsible as a Bid Manager to meet the deadlines along with a quality proposal for positioning the solution to both technical and business users. Coordination and Negotiation with service lines (horizontals) and decision-making for the final response to the client is a daily routine work. This has given me expertise in PPT, word and excel.
In my summer internship, I was responsible for adding to the topline of the company, Wipro by searching business opportunities in the North American banking industry. The need was to match the demand and possible solutions provided by various divisions of Wipro and boost business by looking out banks for upselling and cross selling. Another major activity involved understanding of the pricing models. According to the proposal I was responsible for discerning the suitable costing model using the defined rate cards for bidding.
Prior coming to IIMU, I had worked in an IT firm where I worked on mapping the business requirements to the technical solutions needed by the clients in the insurance field. I worked closely with the business analyst and clients to understand and design the needs. The exposure of client site gave me immense confidence to talk to clients and understand the financial aspects in a much better way. Being an owner of certain functionalities, I understood the importance of team work and communication. As a trainer for two people in my firm, I was responsible for their deliverables which gave me extra responsibilities and hence, I became more valuable to the company.
