Hello, my name is Marcelino and I'm a representative of
erotic toys. A toy is an object that serves to entertain itself (in the second meaning of the RAE). "Entertaining" is, etymologically, having someone held or suspended between two situations; distracting them (in a positive or negative sense), amusing them, helping them to pass the time of the interstice. With what the noun "toy", which qualifies these devices mostly as genital stimulation (in fact they stimulate, when they do, partial areas), could be worth if you focus on what is the greatest asset of your marketing strategy; fun and by extension pleasure. If instead of toys, we called them gadgets, gizmos, gizmos or something similar, there is no doubt that this hedonic priority with which they are advertised, would lose much of its effectiveness in the name of a much more technified term that always goes back to the idea of entertainment (a "particle accelerator" sounds like efficiency but not fun). It happens, however, that every noun it categorizes needs an adjective, especially a term such as "toy" that is strongly associated to children (first meaning of the RAE) or to pets, so that "toy" must be given an adult tone but without acquiring too much seriousness or transcendence, but preserving (or even magnifying) its playful character. So we put "erotic".
