I started my career as an apprentice Fabricator in the shipbuilding Industry. I learnt my trade and stayed for 10 years in various shipyards around the country. Then I went offshore, working on Hook ups and Maintenance contracts for over 10 years. I then decided I would like to pass on my skills, I became a College Lecturer in Engineering, teaching and training engineers and apprentices. I became Head of Department after a number of years, then two years later was promoted to Head of Faculty. Overall I stayed 13 years and decided to take voluntary redundancy when government funding was cut. I went to work in Kuwait as Lead Internal Verifier, training apprentice engineers, after two years I was promoted to Head of HSE & Technical Training, I am still employed in this position, I am responsible for all MSW training, (Managing Safe Work). I schedule training and keep the LMS (Learning Management Training ) system up to date, I use the Training Needs analysis to help schedule training sessions and I manage the classroom bookings etc. I also deliver courses in SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) defensive driving, First Aid at work and also AED ( Automatic External Defibrillator). I also deliver many courses such as Permit to Work, Job Hazard Analysis, Hazcom, Bypassing Critical Protections, Portable Gas Detection, H2S Awareness, and many more. (See CV).
