Profile
I am a Kenyan Community Health Registered Nurse by profession with a life-long love of working with patients in hospitals, and a demonstrated commitment to service.
I have been working in numerous fields related to nursing. my background includes a wealth of nursing experience from working in departments such as Oncology, Medical/Surgical division, Casualty, Maternity, Pediatric ward, Out-patient department, Clinical wards, Psychiatric wards just to name a few. I have also spent some years in school and training settings as well as seminars which have been of benefit to me as they have sharpened my teaching, competency, interpersonal, theoretical, practical and administration skills. It is through this that I have gained more knowledge on human heath, data collection, research, information dissemination, test and management of clinical evaluation tools, HIV prevention & control, Family Planning, immunization, primary health care and integrated health care information management systems. I have also spent some years in managerial and leadership positions which have groomed me for good leadership and also increased my competency.
During my senior and leading years in Kenyatta National Hospital as the deputy chief nurse and later the acting chief nurse, I sat at the forefront of managing societal issues, I gained management and programme development skills, took on community projects and reports and conducted researches. This has helped me to learn how to better handle all types of people, tasks and problems. I have spent 19 years in emergency surgical unit, 5 years in accident and emergency unit, 5 years in staff education unit and 10 years in general medicines. Perhaps more important, though, is my devotion to training and service to the community. I take pleasure in my ability to build rapport with the society and treasure the special bonds I enjoy with people.
Of particular note, I am proud to say that I have experience in training and counseling as a manager trainer in obstetrics, gynecology, medicine (pharmacology), HIV/AIDS education (at VCT in K.N.H) and nursing theory and practice. I established a long-standing reputation as a productive and effective staff member during my career. I do work well under pressure, I am conscientious, organized, efficient and have flexibility. Among my other strengths, you will find that I am a resourceful individual and a fast learner who is always quick to become the office go-to person. Friendly and easy-going with outstanding interpersonal, organizational and managerial skills, students, parents, and community members alike find me to be approachable and accommodating.
