Dear prospective employer,
This is just a short letter to introduce myself and hopefully with the other documents and letters of reference you will get a good idea of who I am and that my experience and skills can benefit you and your family in running your household and remove some of the day to day stress you may have at the moment.
My career started in Hotel and Catering so I have a good knowledge of the areas that are central to household, namely food and beverage service, kitchen management and hygiene and all areas of housekeeping. Although I had a large staff in my previous position I was still very hands on and I expect to be fully involved in these areas in my next position. After moving into private service in 2003 I had the chance to put all of the skills I gained in hotels and restaurants into practice and to also experience new areas which are unique to a private house.
As a private butler in a residence there are tasks to undertake that you would only experience there, such as Valet duties, travel with the employers, personal shopping, administering medication and medical checks. I became an all rounder in my last position, having to turn my hand to anything that was required of me. I am good with children of any age , from babies to teenagers, I also have experience with household pets. The main part of my duties in my last position were checking staff were carrying out their duties correctly, checking for any maintenance issues and following these up with the relevant people. Party planning was a large part of my duties as the family entertained frequently and I was involved from the start on this. I travelled overseas on numerous occasions with the family to Europe, North America and Africa so I am used to the duties involved in travel, from luggage to dealing with hotels , packing and unpacking and running errands and shopping for the family and also accompanying the children when carrying out activities not with their parents.
I would just like to finish by saying I am an experienced, hardworking person who can be both formal and informal, I have a kind and friendly nature and would like to find an employer I can serve long term. I am not set in my ways so I feel I can adapt to most situations and conduct myself in a way which will best serve my employer. I am hands on and expect to be involved in laundry, cleaning and have a good basic knowledge of cooking, from the simple to dinner party standard dishes. I would expect to be responsible for the overall operation and security of the household.
