A legal officer is the one who looks after the legal aspects of an organization and ensures that all the operations are done within the regulatory framework. He/she has to keep a track of the the processes and activities and define the perimeter within which the employees need to execute their responsibilities so as to avoid breach of rules. The chief legal officer is expected to prepare and maintain the documents for contracts, patents, loans, etc., and check that they are updated when required.
