Aishwarya Iyer

I am a 30-year old young professional skilled in audience-specific written communications (be it a child or an adult), editing, report writing, project management, monitoring and evaluation.

I graduated with a BA in Sociology from the St Xavier's College Mumbai. However in four of the five years, in addition to Sociology I studied Psychology and Anthropology as well.

After completing my graduation, I opted for a post graduate course in Journalism, which I successfully completed from the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai with a specialization in Print media.

I joined the Indian Express as a Trainee Reporter and left as a Special Correspondent. The three and a half year stint involved extensive writing for a newspaper audience.

I briefly worked as a Creative Content Writer with Powerweave Software Solutions, a firm which specialised in promoting promotional products for an American manufacturer. I extensively wrote blogs, product descriptions and reviews.

After my tenure in Powerweave concluded, I opted for jobs in the development sector wherein I used my writing skills to develop well researched reports and documentary evidence of impact the organisations were creating in lives of underprivileged children. A significant fragment of my time was also spent in editing and re-writing field reports, often documented by social work professionals who focused their energies more on being agents of change (rightfully so); they were happy to have me as their in-house Grammar Nazi! The mutual agreement worked well, as their insights from the field coupled with my skill with the written word led to informative and accurate reports reaching the head offices of the employer organisations (in England and Italy respectively)

Meanwhile my tryst with academics continued and after three, excruciating yet well-spent years (weekends, rather!) I have completed my MBA in Social Entrepreneurship in April 2016.

I currently continue to work as a Project Manager and Communications Specialist with WeWorld Onlus, an international development organization headquartered in Milan, Italy.

Academia:

I possess a strong academic background having amassed educational qualifications from esteemed institutions like the St Xavier's College in Mumbai, Asian College of Journalism, Chennai, National Law School of India University and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai. My resume includes a Bachelors degree in Sociology, a post graduate diploma in journalism, a post graduate diploma in child rights law and an MBA in Social Entrepreneurship (Inception and Management).

Eligibility:
Graduation in Sociology and multiple post graduate qualifications (child rights, Social Enterprise Management)
Nine years of work-exp (5 years in the development sector in organizations engaged in promoting rehabilitation, education etc.)
Experience of working in international organizations (with HQs in UK, Italy)
Excellent verbal and written communication (English) skills (solely responsible for written communications in both organizations worked for). Know multiple regional languages including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil.
Worked in Mumbai offices of both international employer organziations but travelled to other states for work.
Networked with representatives of Mumbai and other city-based NGOs while studying the executive (for working professionals) MBA .
Since my foray into the development sector - worked in lean organizations i.e. was solely responsible for multiple deliverables (knowledge management, strategy-building, project development, monitoring & review & communications)
