You will serve customers in restaurants and stores, and receive clients or guests. You will perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. You will get appropriate information by observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. You will sell and influence others convincing them to buy merchandise/goods or to otherwise change their minds or actions. You will communicate with supervisors or peers by providing timely and relevant information by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. You will handle and move objects using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things. You will develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time. You will judge the qualities of things, services or people, and resolve conflicts and negotiate with others by handling complaints, settling disputes and resolving grievances and conflicts. You will develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish your work. You will process, interprete and evaluate information to determine compliance with standards. You will document or record information by entering, transcribing, recording, storing or maintaining information in written or electronic form. You will develop, design or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems or products including artistic contributions.

Waiter/Waitress Duties

  • Welcomes customers when they arrive at a restaurant, cafe, or other eating or drinking establishment
  • Introduces customers to the menu and announces daily or seasonal menu specials
  • Answers questions about menu items, ingredients, and pricing
  • Takes customers' orders for food and drink by writing them on a ticket, entering them into a tablet, or memorizing them
  • Passes customer orders along to kitchen staff for preparation
  • Prepares drinks and serves them to customers
  • Collects food orders from the kitchen, verifies that they are correct, and serves them to customers
  • Ensures that customers are satisfied with their meals and processes orders for additional courses if necessary
  • Removes used dishes, glasses, and flatware from tables
  • Prepares cheques and delivers them to customers
  • Processes cash and credit card payments and returns change to customers if necessary
  • Sets tables with dishes, glasses, and flatware and refills condiments
  • Maintains familiarity with menu items, specials, and restaurant information
  • Meets with managers and wait staff daily or regularly in order to learn about menu changes and specials as well as discuss upcoming reservations and customers with special needs
  • Must be willing to commit to a minimum of 18 months with AllAboutHomes.
  • Physical Strength, Physical Stamina, Attention to Detail, Ability to Multitask, Written and Verbal Communication, Customer Service Skills, Interpersonal Communication, Teamwork, Ability to Work Under Pressure, Positive Attitude, Familiarity With Alcohol Restrictions or Laws
  • Must be 18 years and above
  • Must be willing to participate in training and other career growth opportunities
  • Minimum SSCE. Diploma holders and other higher qualifications along with considerable skills will attract commensurate salaries.
  • Relevant experience in a similar position and knowledge of the hospitality industry and requirements is an added advantage
