Sewing Supervisor
Job Purpose: to coordinate sewers and technical support team to produce garments efficiently and within the quality, quantity and schedule specifications of the customers.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee the garment pre-production processes with the relevant technical support teams
· Participate and support daily improvement meetings
· Liaise with technical support teams to prepare production lines for production
· Manage sewers to maintain production quality, efficiency and outputs
· Drive for production standardization across Factory and Company
· Coordinate improvements with Garment Technicians and Mechanic
· Provide balance of positive motivation and discipline to achieve output targets
· Continuously balance line to achieve efficiency targets
· Continuously monitor sewing production and resolve production problems
· Create safe and conducive work environment
· Provide managerial leadership to the sewers
· Understand and live by the Company’s core values
· Take accountability for growing and continuously improving oneself
Job Requirements
· Education: Vocational education
· Experience: 2 years of relevant experience, with at least 1 year in supervisory positions, in a high SKU, labor intensive manufacturing environment
· Language skills: Written and spoken English and Amharic a must, local dialects a plus
· Functional Requirements:
· Production management techniques through the use of 4M (man, machine, methods, materials)
· Lean manufacturing concepts and tools
· Knowledge and use of problem solving tools
· Understanding of basic garment quality standards, a plus
· Has the drive to meet or exceed a standard of excellence on an ongoing basis
· Has the drive to lead, engage and enable teams and coach individual team members
· Has the drive to systematically seek out information about things and issues to resolve problems
Other Relevant Information:
· Must be willing to travel to Asia to be trained for up to 3 - 6 months in the Company’s existing Factories
