Company Profile

RasGas is one of the world’s premier integrated LNG enterprises and has an enviable reputation for being a safe and reliable supplier of LNG that has transformed a regional resource into a key component of the global energy mix
RasGas oversees and manages all the operations associated with seven LNG trains, two sales gas production facilities, two helium production facilities, and major shipping contracts and global commercial partnerships. The company has developed world-class offshore and onshore facilities for the extraction, processing, liquefaction and storage of gas from Qatar’s North Field.

Its primary products is LNG for overseas export, for which it has a total production capacity of approximately 37 million tonnes per annum.

For pipeline sales gas to the domestic market, RasGas also operates the Al Khaleej Gas Projects, AKG-1 and AKG-2 supplying approximately 2.0 billion standard cubic feet (Bscf) per day. The Company is currently adding production capacity by building the Barzan Gas Project which when fully operational in 2015, is expected to supply approximately 1.4 Bscf of additional sales gas per day to the Qatari market to meet growing demand for energy at power stations and downstream industries.

RasGas also manages and operates the Helium 1 and Helium 2 facilities, which have a combined production capacity of 1.96 Bscf per year making Qatar the world’s largest exporter of liquid helium.

RasGas' swift growth and development are critical factors behind Qatar's strong economic development and global positioning. Today RasGas supplies LNG from Qatar to countries across Asia, Europe and the Americas. Energy companies in these regions recognise that RasGas has a strong and well deserved reputation in safety, security and reliability of deliveries.

To ensure the safe and reliable delivery of its LNG, RasGas operates a dedicated fleet of 27 LNG carriers under long term charter agreements with ship owners. The RasGas fleet, comprising conventional, Q-Flex and Q-Max ships delivers LNG to a number of terminals on a global basis, including the Qatar Terminal Company LNG receiving terminal, in the Adriatic Sea, off the Coast of Italy.

In December 2010, Qatar celebrated the achievement of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani's vision for RasGas and its sister company Qatargas, under the guidance of Qatar Petroleum, to reach a production capacity of 77 Mta of LNG. Among LNG producing countries, Qatar now has the largest production capacity: it is the world's leading producer of a strategically important energy source.

In Qatar, RasGas is a leading employer of Qatari nationals and people from more than 61 countries. Beyond its own workforce RasGas regards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as integral to its business and has developed a strong and proactive CSR programme, whose four cornerstones - community, education, environment and health - are aligned to the Qatar National Vision 2030. The RasGas programme strengthens the company's connection with Qatari society and provides a structured framework for its corporate citizenship activities.
